Privacy Policy for Kovra

Last updated: September 2, 2026

Kovra ("the app," "we," "us") is a warranty-tracking app that helps you keep receipts and know when your product coverage ends. This policy explains what information the app processes and how. Please read it alongside the way the app actually works.

By using Kovra, you agree to the practices described here.

The short version

Information the app processes

Receipt content you choose to scan. When you take a photo, choose a photo, or import a PDF of a receipt or invoice, the app sends that image or document to our processing service to extract the details it contains — for example, the product name, purchase date, price, store, and any warranty terms shown. Receipts may also contain other information you have provided, such as a partial payment method (e.g., "Visa ending in 1234"). Only the content you choose to scan is processed.

Warranty records you save. The warranty entries you keep — product names, dates, prices, sellers, and the notes and settings you add — are stored locally on your device. We do not receive or store a copy of your saved list on our servers.

Purchases. If you buy the one-time unlock, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details. Apple's handling of that purchase is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, device identifiers for tracking, or usage analytics.

How your scanned content is processed

To read the details from a receipt automatically, the app transmits the image or PDF to:

This transmission happens only when you actively scan a document. If you enter a warranty's details manually, no content is sent off your device.

Data retention

We do not operate servers that store your receipts or warranty records. Your warranty list lives on your device for as long as you keep the app installed. Our proxy passes requests through without storing or logging their content. Content sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) is automatically deleted within 30 days under its commercial terms; we do not retain it ourselves.

How your information is protected

Content transmitted for processing is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Your saved warranty records remain on your device under the protections of your device and operating system.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We share scanned content only with the processing services described above (Cloudflare and Anthropic), and only for the purpose of extracting your receipt's details. We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.

Tracking

Kovra does not track you across apps or websites and does not use your information for advertising.

Children's privacy

Kovra is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your choices

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, within the app.
